“You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks” – Winston S. Churchill
How mentoring and counseling vary from one another is a question I am asked quite a bit. Let me put it this way, in a nutshell. When you are at the beginning of a path and your aspirations and goals are at the conclusion of that path, mentoring is when you make the proper choices and take the appropriate actions.
Dogs of rejection, trauma, pain, fear, struggle, hopelessness, and other emotions are all clamoring for your attention as you travel down that road. We occasionally take chances, gain confidence, and allow them to attack us. When this happens, we require counseling.
Simply put, mentoring is a process that helps you make the proper choices, teaches you which dogs to avoid, helps you recognize the warning signals of an attack, and helps you stay inside a specific safety and protection perimeter. Although it is better to prevent illness than to treat it, intimidation and fear are unacceptable.
Both the mentoring and counseling sections have an introduction option. This thirty-minute session is intended to provide you an overview of counseling and the following steps in the procedure. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get to know one another better and put a face to a voice. You can count on hearing from me.
