Yes, the 1980s were the ideal decade to grow up in, with great music and movies, and easy living. We would play in the streets until the lights came on, which was our cue to go home or risk your mom waiting with the “rod.”
When you liked a lady, you had to approach and face her to ask her out. I rented VHS tapes from the video store and played video games at the arcade. Despite the difficulties, it was a good moment to be alive.
As a counselor and the father of two daughters, I am aware that the pressures placed on young people today are excessive for a variety of reasons. The primary offender is social media, which is responsible for bullying and tearing apart today’s youth.
There is an absurd quantity of openly downloadable porn available, and pervert and stalker date sites are ubiquitous. They have to pick up information about sex and other subjects from people and bad influences on social media platforms.
Bullying and suicide teenage statistics are sky high due to peer pressure and emotional overload
Many teenagers today are growing up with only one parent and have had to deal with the trauma of their parents’ divorce. Young girls are looking for love in all the wrong places and are being taken advantage of by boys.
Young men experiment with drugs and other substances in order to improve their self-esteem and confidence. I could go on and on about the gravity of the challenges that today’s youth face.
Hope For My Life
We are convinced that we can and will change the world through the grace and knowledge of God. I firmly think that kids—including teenagers—have a special place in God’s heart, and we’ll support, guide, and arm the Joshua generation with the tools they need to succeed in a difficult world.
They will then raise their own morally upright and emotionally stable children who will respect God. How are we approaching it? adolescents in grades 10 through 12 can attend weekend camps.
Please visit our camp page for more details and the weekend schedule if you are interested, know someone who might be, or want to sponsor a teen to attend a camp.
